The Reverend Deacon Nicole Taggart was ordained to the permanent diaconate on 16 November 2025 by Bishop Cowden. Before being ordained, Deacon Nicole served as a lay chaplain at San Francisco General Hospital, and leading worship services at the Episcopal Sanctuary Homeless Shelter and San Francisco County Jail. Professionally, she has 25+ years of experience working in social services, specializing in work with disabled adults.

Deacon Nicole studied at the Episcopal School for Deacons in Berkeley, California and at the Stevenson School for Ministry. She serves multiple parishes in the Eastern Panhandle, but Trinity is her home.

She loves local history and enjoys taking people through Old Norbourne Cemetery, the graveyard of the original Trinity Martinsburg. Deacon Nicole is a Sharks hockey fan, and, is proud to say that after her first hockey reference in a sermon, her team had its first ever goalie fight in its history – there was no connection, except in her imagination. She lives with two rescue dogs, Hildegard and Ruby, who help her keep her equilibrium.
