The Most Rev. Sean W. Rowe, 28th Presiding Bishop and Primate of The Episcopal Church, preached the commencement sermon May 20 as Seminary of the Southwest conferred degrees on 35 graduates during its 2026 Commencement service at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Austin, TX.
Bishop Rowe, who also received an honorary Doctorate of Divinity from the seminary, centered his sermon on the call to peacemaking in a world marked by division, anxiety, and deep need. Speaking to graduates preparing for vocations in ministry, service, counseling, spiritual direction, and healing, Rowe encouraged the Class of 2026 to remain grounded in God’s peace as they enter communities that will ask much of them and need much from them.
